I Was Fired for Something I Didn't Understand
Dreamed on July 31, 2026
A meeting room I've never been in, with a table too large for the number of people. Two people I didn't know were explaining, kindly, why I could no longer work there. They were being very careful with me. That was the worst part — the care.
I kept asking what the thing was. Not defensively. I genuinely wanted the information. They kept answering, at length, and every answer was made of the sort of words that sound like they mean something: process, alignment, the way things had gone. I could hear the sentences finish. I could not find the fact inside them.
At one point I looked down and I was holding a folder, and I understood that the folder contained the explanation, and that it would be inappropriate to open it in front of them.
There was no anger anywhere in the dream. Everyone was decent. I woke up around four with my jaw aching.
- Waking up
- Jaw clenched. Took me most of the morning to shake the feeling that I'd done something wrong.
- Places recognised
- A meeting room
